steven lutvak, composer of I Just Wanted You to KNow

When Steven died suddenly and WAY too early this past October, I was both grateful that we had been in touch recently letting him know we recorded his song, I Just Wanted You to Know, but also disappointed that the mix wasn’t ready to share it with him before his untimely passing.

Steven and I have known each other since soon after my move to NYC. Many years later, after taking time off to attend to my children, my husband decided to jump-start my return to performing by re-connecting Steven and me via private coaching sessions. 

It is not an exaggeration to say that his early support meant so much to me. He introduced me to Sidney Myer, and his encouragement meant a LOT! One day he was at the piano playing some of his original songs in case any of them “spoke” to me. The only restriction he gave me was, “You can have any song you like, just don't tell me if you don't like one. Because, you know, they were his babies before his beautiful daughter entered his life.

And seriously, as if I would! 😊

I look forward to singing more of his songs in the future, but the one we included on this album was part of my debut cabaret show. We added a bit of a rockin’ feel to it, thanks considerably to Sean Harkness’ exciting electric guitar. 

I hope Steven likes it, wherever and however he hears it!
